Kiko Milano Volume & Definition Top Coat Mascara Review

Kiko Milano Volume & Definition Top Coat Mascara

What Kiko Milano says:

The Kiko Milano Volume & Definition Top coat mascara is a top coat volume &definition intensifying mascara. When applied after your usual mascara, the volume of your lashes increases by more than double. The elastomeric applicator has been specifically developed and created by Kiko to maximize the mascara's volumizing and defining results. The bristles pick up and release the ideal amount of product to enhance the volume effect while their semi-rigid structure separates the lashes perfectly and distributes mascara evenly. Their varied length makes the product easy to apply; the long bristles at the base of the applicator are for the central lashes, while the short bristles allow you to reach the short lashes in the corners of the eye. The creamy, high-performance texture thickens lashes while separating. The effect is sublime. The innovative formula has been enriched with volumizing and softening agents together with a special blend of waxes which coats the eyelashes with a film; wrapping them in intense color.

   My Take

Firstly, I can't help but swoon over its gorgeous metallic packaging. The shiny pink hue and long cylindrical body give it a nice high-end makeup product look. The packaging is alluring and eye-catching. Coming to the actual designing of the wand, it's pretty decent and normal to work with. There is proper non-clumsy spacing between the bristles which is such a relief whenever I use this mascara.

It lengthens and separates the lashes and gives a minimal curling effect. When used alone it gives a clean and fresh look to the eyes. It separates the lashes nicely without being clumpy (thanks to the combination of its light airy formula and the designing of its bristles).

Forget about it being a top coat for a moment and I adore using it alone on my eyelashes. Along with feeling lightweight, it doesn't smudge or clump on the lashes. The skinny bristles of this mascara perfectly coat each lash. They also don't pick up too much product. However, the only bummer about using this mascara is the fact that reaching the lashes on the inner corners of the eyes is quite difficult with its straight designed brush.

I mistook its top coat thing as something to be done before applying the usual mascara initially, but the instruction on the packaging says otherwise. However, in my experience, I prefer using it before applying my usual mascara. It gives a near perfect falsies look to the eyelashes.

Combined with the main mascara, it increases the length of the eyelashes and makes them look bolder, thicker and dramatic but doesn't give a full-on falsies effect.

What I like the most about this mascara is its lightweight formula. It does its job without clumping the eyelashes or making them feel heavy. I have had this since quite a long time now and unlike other usual mascaras, its liquid hasn't yet formed any dry chunky clumps that tend to settle on the eyelashes. The maximum number of times I have worn it alone and I really like it. Not that it's any bad when clubbed with another mascara, but, for an everyday fresh and minimal makeup look, using it alone is why I have developed such an unflinching fondness for this mascara.

It retails at Rs. 850 which is quite steep but it often comes on discount on Nykaa and in Kiko Milano stores, so keep an eye on that. This brand offers a huge range of mascaras and since my experience with this one has been good, I'll definitely try out the other ones too.
